How we got here

Josh and Dante grew up around a construction site before they grew up around anything else — their parents ran a custom home-building company, and the two of them were raised in that world. Josh went straight into carpentry out of high school, learning the trade from the ground up: framing, decks, siding, drywall, trim, all of it. Along the way he found a real pull toward fine woodworking, and moved from general carpentry into custom carpentry, fine carpentry, and furniture-making — work he still does today. Dante took a different path through the same family business, building a career in sales.

When they put those two skill sets together — Josh's hands-on knowledge of wood and how it's actually used, Dante's ability to source it and get it to the people who need it — Goodwood Direct was the result. Not a company built by outsiders guessing at what builders want, but by people who've framed the walls, hung the trim, and built the furniture themselves.

Why Goodwood Direct Exists

Species most yards don't carry, from people who actually work with it

Most lumber yards sell you what's easy to stock. We built Goodwood Direct around the opposite idea: carry the species that are hard to find — Ipe, Cumaru, Garapa, Tigerwood, Eastern Red Cedar, and more — and be straight with people about what actually fits their project and their budget. We sell from a single board all the way up to full tractor-trailer loads, with competitive pricing that scales for large commercial jobs. We're based in Lakeland and focus on Central Florida, but we deliver statewide across Florida for larger orders. We're not the biggest supplier in Central Florida, and we're not always the cheapest. We're the ones who pick up the phone and give you a real answer.

Who We Work With

Homeowners, builders, and architects alike

H

Homeowners

Planning a deck, floor, siding, pergola, DIY project, or anything else you can imagine, and want a real answer on what fits your project and your budget.

B

Builders & Contractors

Need a supplier who understands lead times, board specs, and job-site realities — because we've been on the job site too.

A

Architects & Designers

Speccing species for a project and need someone who can talk grain, hardness, and performance in Florida's climate — and source whatever the spec calls for.

W

Woodworkers & Furniture Makers

Looking for the same specialty stock Josh uses in his own furniture work — White Oak, Maple, and Walnut alongside our exotics.

Our Word

Family-run. Sourced with care. Built on trust.

That line at the bottom of every page isn't a slogan we picked because it sounded good. It's the same standard Josh and Dante grew up watching their parents hold to on job sites, and it's the standard we hold Goodwood Direct to now — with every board, every quote, every phone call.

Common Questions

About Goodwood Direct, answered honestly

Who founded Goodwood Direct?

Josh and Dante LaTerra, brothers who grew up in their family's custom home-building business in Central Florida. Josh built a career in carpentry and fine woodworking; Dante built one in sales. Together they started Goodwood Direct.

Where is Goodwood Direct based?

Lakeland, Florida, serving all of Central Florida including Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota, and Clearwater.

Does Goodwood Direct work with architects and contractors, or just homeowners?

All of the above. We work with homeowners, builders and contractors, architects and designers, and woodworkers and furniture makers — anyone who needs real answers on specialty hardwood, not just a price sheet.

Does Goodwood Direct sell in bulk for large commercial jobs?

Yes. We sell from a single board up to full tractor-trailer loads, with competitive pricing that scales for large commercial orders.

Do you deliver outside Central Florida?

Yes. We're based in Lakeland and focus on Central Florida, but we deliver statewide across Florida for larger orders, and can ship out of state as well — reach out with your location and quantity.

What species does Goodwood Direct carry?

Ipe, Cumaru, Garapa, Tigerwood, Eastern Red Cedar, and more exotic hardwoods, plus domestic species like White Oak, Maple, and Walnut for woodworkers and furniture makers.

What makes Goodwood Direct different from other lumber suppliers?

It's run by people who've actually done the work — Josh is a carpenter and furniture maker, Dante built his career in sales, and both grew up in their family's custom home-building business. We're not the biggest or always the cheapest, but we give straight answers and stand behind what we sell.
