Hardwood Flooring

Solid and engineered, domestic and exotic — real hardwood floors sourced through the same trusted mill relationships as everything else we sell.

A floor that actually fits the room

A good hardwood floor comes down to two decisions: the species, for color and hardness, and solid vs. engineered, for how it handles the room's humidity and traffic. We carry familiar domestic species alongside exotics dense enough to double as decking — the right one depends on the room, the moisture, and the look you're after.

Solid vs. Engineered

Plain-language, not a spec sheet

Solid flooring is one piece of wood, full thickness, top to bottom — it can be sanded and refinished many times over its life, but it moves more with Florida's humidity swings, especially over a slab. Engineered flooring is a real hardwood wear layer bonded over a stable plywood core — it handles humidity better and works in more installation situations, but it can only be refinished a limited number of times before the wear layer runs out. Both are genuine hardwood, not laminate or vinyl — the right choice depends on the room, the subfloor, and how long you want to own the house.

Built for Florida

Domestic warmth or exotic density — both hold up indoors

Central Florida's humidity is easier on an indoor floor than an outdoor deck, but it's not nothing — engineered construction or proper acclimation matters more here than in a drier climate. Our exotic species, Ipe, Cumaru, and Tigerwood among them, bring the same density and stability that makes them last decades outdoors, which translates to an exceptionally hard-wearing floor indoors. Tell us about the space and how it's used, and we'll steer you toward what actually holds up, not just what's most popular.

Common Questions

Flooring, answered honestly

Solid or engineered hardwood flooring — what's the real difference?

Solid flooring is one piece of wood top to bottom — it can be sanded and refinished many times over its life, but it moves more with humidity. Engineered flooring is a real hardwood wear layer bonded over a stable plywood core — it handles humidity swings better, which matters in Florida, but can only be refinished a limited number of times. Both are real wood, not laminate.

Do you deliver hardwood flooring across Central Florida?

Yes. Goodwood Direct, based in Lakeland, delivers flooring across Central Florida including Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota, and Clearwater.

Can exotic hardwoods like Ipe or Cumaru be used as flooring?

Yes. Ipe, Cumaru, and Tigerwood are dense and stable enough for interior flooring, not just decking and siding — the same durability that makes them last outdoors gives you an exceptionally hard-wearing floor indoors.

What domestic wood species does Goodwood Direct carry for flooring?

White Oak, Red Oak, Hickory, Walnut, Maple, and American Cherry, alongside our exotic species.
